The right sound for the song, I might add. I agree to that most guitarists live sound does NOT cut it in the studio, but that is the engineer and/or producers task to get the right sound in the studio.

I have been recording guitars (and playing) in a pro environment (great players, great amp, great rooms, mics, mic-pre's bla bla) for 40+ years, so I know a thing or two about it

I usually prefer free range and gluten free tone myself.Yep to all. Yikes!!! Then the other guy dialing back the gain and having real stale pinch harmonics.Īgain it is interesting to hear people describe a tone as organic. Between the too much gain to ****ty EQ job to no noise gate. I would end up dialing in their sound some times. One thing I found playing in bands is that guitar players don't realize just how bad they sound. I think this is the difference between a guitar player and sound engineer or whatever you call it now. You can hear it while monitoring in headphones and playing though. But just like a sim I would low pass that stuff.Īgain you don't hear it so much in person because most people don't play their guitar and have their ear placed exactly where the mic is like an amp sim is. Same with the Single Rectoverb combo I had, could fizz it up with that too. I could capture fizz from my Marshall 1936 2x12 cab due to the speakers loaded in it when placing the mic direct center of the speaker right on the grill. As with anything the roll off depends on the speaker I would imagine.
